Aegean is giving A3 elites passing ATH airport bonus miles because of renovation work that was being done on the A3 lounge (in the Schengen side) at ATH for those doing intra-Schengen trips. No actual lounge visit attempt required as long as the applicable members are doing intra-Schengen trips via ATH on A3.
 
Last year this was the email they sent to me and was a capacity-related issue and thus seems to continue rather than any renovation stuff:



“We have come into an agreement with Goldair Handling Lounge to secure additional capacity and therefore, effective May 12th 2023, our Gold members who fly together with a non-Gold travel companion (guest) will be hosted at the Goldair Handling Lounge. Our Lounge personnel will always be available to guide you and assist in any way.



As a token of our appreciation for your understanding, we offer to all Gold members, 200 extra award miles for all domestic flights from Athens, and 500 extra award miles for all flights from Athens to an international Intra Schengen destination.”

By any chance, was this extra 500 miles on a flex fare ticket for intra-Schengen travel? And do you know if the persons attempting to access the lounge after you happened to be asked to go to the Goldair lounge?

It was a Light-ticket, booking class U. I don't know if there was anybody behind me when I entered the lounge, I didn't pay any attention.

OM man som Aegean Gold väljer att besöka GoldAir loungen ISTÄLLET för Aegeans lounge, så bjussar Aegean på 500 poäng som tack för att man håller nere kapaciteten i Aegeans lounge.



Är detta vad som har hänt @Budgetresenär ?
 
IIRC, Aegean is a shareholder in Goldair, but Goldair still does have to keep track and inform Aegean of Aegean flyers using the Goldair lounge on the basis of access provided by Aegean at ATH. And so I guess A3 could get a list of A3 passengers using the Goldair lounge and run mileage credits based on that.

Nej, jag gick (ensam) in i Aegean-loungen som vanligt, jag satte inte min fot i GoldAir-loungen.

Det har inte att göra med gäster eller ej. Pga av de problem som lounge-situationen ev orsakar har de valt att kompensera alla guld-medlemmar på alla flighter som avgår från Athen.



Det står rätt tydligt både i denna tråden, i länkar du fått och på Aegeans hemsida.

Good program for keeping *G status especially after you earn it. Unfortunately, no way to earn lifetime status with the program.



The award ticket routing rules are not the most generous, and they add fuel surcharges on award tickets for a bunch of airlines. Other than that and the miles being worth somewhat less than they were about five years ago, no complaints about the program. The award availability is the standard availability I see when trying to use miles from most other major Star Alliance airline programs for partner-operated flights.



I also think it’s a good program for families because of the Together account feature for A3 elites.



The Aegean credit cards require having a banking and credit history in the country of card-issuance. I have no personal bank account in Greece nor any personal credit history there, so applying for the advertised credit cards in Aegean’s in-flight magazines doesn’t work for me.
 
Tror det inte är möjligt att skaffa Aegean visa-kort, men om jag fattat det rätt är det möjligt att skaffa Mastercard versionen från Bank of Cyprus. Funderat om det är värt sett till intjäning och avgifterna.

Sen har jag blivit diskriminerad i dubbel bemärkelse. För en vecka sen köpte jag själv med Visa korts kampanjen i tron att jag gjort en bra affär!!!
