Yes, I have used it a lot, but primarily as a US citizen. Unfortunately, I can’t always count on an airport having it open (or at all) and operating. But when it’s available and open it can be a major time saver and is sometimes even faster than Global Entry which I also use to get landside fast on arrival to the US.Robert flysas skrev:Förnyade våra ESTA igår. Only more recently have prior ESTA users been allowed to use MPC, and MPC can really speed up things at times when MPC is available and operating on arrival to a US port of entry (or, when relevant, at a US CBP Preclearance location).

Indeed it was less than 3 months ago that the government finally enabled MPC for ESTA users. I have yet to see large numbers of ESTA users use the MPC line. But even most arriving US citizens, Canadian citizens, and US green card holders — the last of which were only activated for MPC about 8 months ago — don’t use MPC even where it’s open and operating. Maybe the ESTA renewal applicants being told about it upon ESTA renewal will make it more popular (and thus slower to use on arrival on those occasions when it’s available and operating for a trip), but I think most people won’t care to do so and thus MPC can be useful to have and use when possible.Robert flysas skrev:Thank you very much. [Just don’t be surprised if MPC is not open on some trips and you end up having to use the regular lines for visitors anyway.]

Yes, I’ve used MPC at SFO (at least as a US citizen). Repeat ESTA users with the MPC app can now go the same way as US citizen-using MPC users when having an MPC receipt produced by the app at the relevant time, but sometimes MPC at the airport is staffed and works and an other times it may not. [SFO tends to be one of the better ones with MPC.] But when it works, it can be great; and when it doesn’t work so well, it adds to the experience base that things can be different from time to time when dealing with US CBP and this app. But it’s good to try to use MPC when eligible, as often it will save time where and when it is up and running at the time of your arrival at the US CBP inspection facility.PRJml2ENIpiC1e3L skrev:Funkar den att använda om man flyger till SFO? The above list is where CBP can process passengers with MPC because the port and CBP worked together to have it as a technical possibility and got signage on hand to make it work. Whether MPC is open and operating on any given day/time of day at a particular airport or a particular airport terminal unfortunately continues to vary, so you can’t necessarily count on it being up and running when you want it. Fortunately, even without MPC, Simplified (Biometric) Arrival has also sped up things for repeat ESTA users.

Returning etta-kö har jag bara sett en eller två gånger. Ännu mer random är huruvida personalen i ett bås faktiskt tänker ta emot resenärer eller inte. The MPC mobile app, is available to U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, Canadian B1/B2 citizen visitors and returning Visa Waiver Program travelers with approved ESTA. MPC is currently available at the following 48 sites, including 33 U.S. International Airports, 11 Preclearance locations, and 4 seaports of entry:

En av de negativa förändringarna man gjorde i gränskontrollen under covid var att slå ihop köerna för utlänningar. Tidigare var det oftast tre separata köer (new esta, returning esta och non-esta), där returning esta gick överlägset snabbast. Nu så kan man bli stående väldigt länge om man råkat landa precis bakom ett plan från ett icke esta-land. Andra gånger kan man glida igenom väldigt snabbt eftersom man har tillgång till alla luckorna. Oförutsägbart är bara förnamnet.

Returning ESTA users = US Visa Waiver Program (VWP) users who have previously entered the US at least one time with a previous or current ESTA while using the same country’s passport against which an ESTA has been previously approved and used.
If you’ve been issued an ESTA before which was used and came with being photographed and fingerprinted by CBP on arrival at a US airport of entry or US CBP preclearance facility on a US VWP-eligible trip, then any valid ESTA on the same country passport ordinarily gets the visitor classified as a returning ESTA user for this process when the purpose of the trip is within the boundaries of the US Visa Waiver Program. This works even when you get a new passport issued and a new ESTA for the new passport. [New Swedish passport means a new ESTA is required, but you can still be considered a returning ESTA user if having previously entered the US with an ESTA for a US VWP-eligible trip to the US.]
